Voter Eligibility
Governed by the Municipal Elections Act [PDF] (MEA), residents who meet all the following conditions qualify to vote in municipal elections:
Residency: You have been a resident in Nova Scotia for six (6) months immediately before the first advanced polling day and you have been a resident of the Halifax Regional Municipality since immediately before the first advance polling day.
Age: You are 18 years of age or older on the first advance polling day.
Citizenship: You are a Canadian citizen on the first advance polling day.
Please note: Eligible residents may only vote in one municipality. ​
New 2024 District 11 Boundaries
The Municipal Government Act requires that all municipalities in Nova Scotia regularly conduct a review of the number and boundaries of electoral districts in the municipality. As a result, the boundaries of District 11 have changed significantly since the 2020 election.​
